Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay
Tan Sri Lim, a Founding Member and Permanent Trustee of The Community Chest, graduated from the University of London, UK with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and attended the Programme for Management Development of Harvard Business School, Harvard University. Tan Sri Lim is the Chairman and Chief Executive of Genting Berhad and Genting Malaysia Berhad, the Chief Executive and a Director of Genting Plantations Berhad, the Executive Chairman of Genting Singapore PLC and Genting UK PLC, and the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Genting Hong Kong Limited. Tan Sri Lim sits on the Board of Trustees of several charitable organizations, including Yayasan Lim Goh Tong.
Tan Sri Datuk Sri Utama Cheng Heng Jem
Tan Sri Cheng, a Founding Member and Permanent Trustee of The Community Chest and Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Lion Group, has more than 40 years of business experience encompassing steel, retail, property development, mining, oil and gas, agriculture and computer operations. Tan Sri Cheng is the Chairman and Managing Director of Lion Corporation Berhad and Parkson Holdings Berhad, the Chairman of Lion Diversified Holdings Berhad, Lion Forest Industries Berhad, Parkson Retail Group Limited, Parkson Retail Asia Limited, Lion AMB Resources Berhad and ACB Resources Berhad, and a Director of Lion Teck Chiang Limited and Lion Asiapac Limited. Two foundations established by The Lion Group, namely Lion-Parkson Foundation disburses funds for various needs such as education, charity and scientific research, while Lion Group Medical Assistance Fund provides financial assistance to the less fortunate who require medical treatment. Tan Sri Cheng is the President of The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCIM) and The Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor (KLSCCCI). Tan Sri Cheng is now a Life Honorary President of the ACCIM and Honorary President of the KLSCCCI.
Tan Sri Dato’ Chua Ma Yu
Tan Sri Dato’ Chua, a Founding Member and Permanent Trustee of The Community Chest, graduated from Nanyang University, Singapore with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accountancy. Tan Sri Dato’ Chua is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Fellow of Certified Public Accountants of Australia, Fellow of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore and a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. Tan Sri Dato’ Chua is the Executive Chairman of CMY Capital Group, an active global investor with its principal activities being investment holdings, equity investments, hotel/resort and real estate developments. Tan Sri Dato’ Chua was the Co-Founder/President and CEO of RHB Capital Group from 1983 to 1992. Tan Sri Dato’ Chua is a Director of Yayasan Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin, a charity foundation of which the Raja of Perlis, DYMM Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, is the patron. Tan Sri Dato’ Chua is also a Director of Yayasan Toh Puan Zurina, a charity foundation of which the patron is Yang Dipertua Negeri Melaka Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob.
Tun Mohammed Hanif bin Omar
Tun Hanif, an Honorary Trustee of The Community Chest, graduated from the University of Malaya, Singapore with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and obtained a Bachelor of Law (Honours) degree from Buckingham University, UK. Tun Hanif also holds a Certificate of Legal Practice (Honours) from the Legal Qualifying Board. Tun is the Deputy Chairman of Genting Berhad and Genting Malaysia Berhad, and sits on the Boards of AMMB Holdings Berhad, AMFB Holdings Berhad and MEASAT Global Berhad. Tun Hanif was the Inspector-General of The Royal Malaysian Police for 20 years before retiring in January 1994. Tun is also the Chairman of Yayasan Tun Razak, a trustee of the Malaysian Liver Foundation, Yayasan DayaDiri and The MCKK Foundation.
Tan Sri Leonard Linggi Jugah
Tan Sri Linggi, an Honorary Trustee of The Community Chest, graduated from the University of Hull, UK, and qualified as a barrister, called to the High Court of Borneo in 1969. Tan Sri Linggi is the Chairman of the Limar Group, a diversified group with interests in property, plantation, and has over 38 years of experience in the business and legal sectors. Tan Sri Linggi was the Deputy Public Prosecutor in the Sarawak Judicial Department from 1969 to 1971, and subsequently served in a variety of political roles including Minister in the Sarawak State Cabinet, Member of Parliament and appointee to the parliamentary Public Accounts Committee. Tan Sri Linggi is also the Managing Trustee of the Dayak Cultural Foundation and Chairman of the cultural and education-linked Tun Jugah Foundation.
Tan Sri Datuk Gnanalingam A/L Gunanath Lingam
Tan Sri Gnanalingam, an Honorary Trustee of The Community Chest, graduated from University Malaya and Harvard Business School (Boston). Tan Sri Gnanalingam is the Executive Chairman of Westports Malaysia Sdn Bhd and also a Director of Pembinaan Redzai Sdn Bhd, Westport Holdings Sdn Bhd and GTeam Resources & Holding Sdn Bhd. Tan Sri has been the President of the Harvard Business School Alumni Club Malaysia since 2004 and was elected as a committee member of the Government Special Task Force PEMUDAH by the Prime Minister in 2007.
Tan Sri Foong Cheng Yuen
Tan Sri Foong Cheng Yuen, an Honorary Trustee of The Community Chest, graduated from the University of London with LL.B. (Honours) in 1969. Tan Sri Foong was called to the English Bar by the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple in 1970 and thereafter was admitted to the High Court of Malaya as an advocate and solicitor in 1971. Tan Sri Foong was engaged in private legal practice from 1971 to 1990. While Tan Sri Foong was in practice, Tan Sri Foong also acted as a legal adviser to numerous guilds and associations in Malaysia. Tan Sri Foong was appointed Judicial Commissioner in 1990 and was made a High Court Judge in 1992. Tan Sri Foong was later promoted to be a Judge of the Court of Appeal and subsequently as a Judge of the Federal Court in 2008. Tan Sri Foong retired as a Federal Court Judge in 2012 after having served the Malaysian judiciary for 22 years. During that period, Tan Sri Foong was made a Master of the Bench of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple, London in 2009 and was conferred an Honorary Doctorate of Laws degree by the University of the West of England on 27 March 2011.
Currently, Tan Sri Foong is an Advocate and Solicitor and an Arbitrator of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration. Tan Sri Foong is also a Senior Consultant to the China Asean Legal Cooperation Centre based in Hainan, Peoples’ Republic of China. In addition, he is the Chairman of Bina Puri Properties Sdn Bhd, a Director of Only World Group Holdings Berhad, Legal Plus Sdn Bhd and Ombudsman For Financial Services (formerly known as Financial Mediation Bureau), an Independent and Non-Executive Director of Genting Berhad and Paramount Corporation Berhad, a Non-Executive Director of KDU University College Sdn Bhd as well as a member of various Committees and Associations.
